Blackbox was engaged to capture long-term time-lapse documentation of the fourth and final stage of the Anzac Square restoration project, beginning in May 2018. As a joint initiative between the Queensland Government, Australian Government, and Brisbane City Council, the project delivered significant upgrades to one of Brisbane’s most important public spaces. Our time-lapse systems recorded the transformation as new pathways, staircases, and a lift improved accessibility; new landscaping and memorial screens were installed; heritage lighting was enhanced with LED technology; and key memorial areas were revitalised for exhibitions, events, and interactive visitor experiences. The result was a clear visual record of the restoration process, capturing the craftsmanship, heritage sensitivity, and community value embedded in this iconic upgrade

Indooroopilly Riverwalk

The Indooroopilly Riverwalk is a 790-metre elevated pedestrian and cycle structure over the Brisbane River, delivered by the Georgiou and Brady Marine & Civil joint venture for Brisbane City Council and completed in June 2021. With separated lanes, viewing platforms overlooking the iconic Walter Taylor Bridge and connections to the Jack Pesch Bridge and Indooroopilly Station, the project won the CCF QLD Earth Awards top prize in 2022.

The Shovel Walk

AE Civil engaged Blackbox to capture the complex relocation of a Komatsu 4100XPC, one of the world’s largest mining shovels, with a payload capacity of up to 108.9 tonnes, as it was transported 8.86 kilometres through Moranbah. Our team documented the entire operation through a combination of time-lapse, drone, and on-ground video, showcasing the extraordinary engineering and logistics required to move a machine of this scale. The journey involved constructing temporary bridges over roads and rail lines, coordinating multiple teams, and executing a meticulously planned transport sequence. Blackbox provided a detailed visual record of the operation, highlighting the precision, safety, and collaboration behind this impressive feat of heavy-equipment relocation.

Heart of Willoughby- Progress update

Blackbox was engaged to document the transformation of Club Willoughby into the new Heart of Willoughby precinct ,a major redevelopment led by Hyecorp and unanimously approved by the Sydney North Planning Panel. Our time-lapse and video production services captured the demolition of the 52-year-old building and the construction of the state-of-the-art mixed-use development, including the new three-level club and Hyegrove Willoughby, a luxury retirement living community featuring 126 apartments and premium lifestyle amenities. The Port Rail Transformation Project is the cornerstone of the Port of Melbourne's push to move more containers by rail and take trucks off inner-western Melbourne roads. Malaysia Ship Loader Transportation

Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal (WICET) is an industry-owned, privately funded coal terminal in Gladstone and one of Australia’s most significant export infrastructure projects. Blackbox was engaged to provide end-to-end visual documentation, including time-lapse, video production, and professional photography throughout the build. A standout milestone was the transportation of the massive shiploader, manufactured in Malaysia specifically for the project. To capture this pivotal moment, our team travelled from Brisbane to document every stage of the move, from the intricate loading process in Malaysia, to its journey by sea, and finally its arrival and positioning on-site in Gladstone. The result was a comprehensive visual record that showcased the scale, engineering expertise, and coordination behind one of WICET’s most defining components.

High Risk Safety Monitoring

As part of Buildcorp’s dedication to safety and their ‘1, 2, 3 It’s On Me’ initiative, they approached us with a unique challenge. Our goal was to design and implement a custom safety monitoring solution and deploy it on building maintenance units (boats) for one of Sydney’s tallest buildings. The system was developed to actively monitor mast climbers and team members operating in high-risk areas, providing real-time visibility and improving on-site safety. Working closely with Buildcorp, we engineered a tailored solution that seamlessly integrated into their safety framework, helping their team to reduce risk, respond faster and reduce operational overheads.

Taiora QEII Recreation and Sport Centre

Built on the site of the original QEII stadium and pools, constructed for the 1974 Commonwealth Games and destroyed in the 2011 Christchurch earthquake, Taiora QEII brought a much-loved facility back to East Christchurch. Delivered by Apollo Projects for Christchurch City Council in a 15-month build and opened in May 2018, the centre features five pools including a 25-metre 10-lane competition pool, a 120-metre AquaSphere hydroslide (a New Zealand first), spa, sauna and a comprehensive fitness centre. An estimated 22,000 people came through the doors on opening weekend.

Kingscliff Public and High School

School Infrastructure NSW delivered major upgrades to both Kingscliff Public School and Kingscliff High School, completed in August 2024. The Public School received replacement classrooms, a new library, an extended hall with new canteen and a redeveloped street entry, while the High School gained a new library, covered outdoor learning area and purpose-built sports pavilion. The build pushed through the challenges of the 2022 Northern Rivers floods, which stretched construction capacity across the entire region.

Captain Cook Bridge Bearing Replacement

Captain Cook Bridge bearing replacement works involved extensive maintenance, including the lifting of the bridge deck to replace 6 bearings using 500-tonne jacks. These works, which occurred over an 18-month period, also included strengthening the structure with box girder webs and post-tensioned bars. The project was managed with unique temporary works platforms to access confined spaces, requiring some materials to be manually transported, and included weekend closures to minimize traffic disruption.

When John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School consolidated its Beechboro campus into Mirrabooka, it triggered one of WA's most significant private school redevelopments. Delivered under a Hames Sharley master plan, the works included a new two-storey Early Learning Centre carved into the site's slope and the double-storey Bromilow Learning Centre, lifting capacity by more than 300 students to around 1,750.

Fort Street Public School

Established in 1849, Fort Street Public School on Observatory Hill is one of Australia's oldest public schools. Its multi-year upgrade, designed by FJMT and built by Lendlease, blended old and new: heritage buildings were restored, the former Bureau of Meteorology building became the school library, and a new Flagstaff Wing with rooftop play areas was added, lifting capacity from around 200 to 550 students. The school reopened on its original site for Term 1, 2024.

Bondi Pavillion

Bondi Pavillion Upgrade

For over 90 years, Bondi Pavilion has been a central part of life for residents and visitors to Bondi Beach. From theatre to pottery, change rooms to ice rinks, ballrooms to music festivals, the Pavilion has done it all. In June 2020, Buildcorp was announced as the head contractor to carry out works to restore the Pavilion to its former glory, with the project being completed in September 2022. The project’s complexity consisted of major structural, remedial, and civil works as complex as the heritage significance. Sensitively restoring original finishes and finds, which included the Aboriginal mosaic, painted murals, and unearthed graphics, overhauling and adding new services, which include state of art audio-visual equipment.

The Gold Coast Turf Club's Tracks, Tunnel & Lights project transformed Aquis Park, home of the Magic Millions, into a world-class racing venue. Delivered by BMD Group for Racing Queensland and the GCTC, the multi-million dollar redevelopment installed an all-weather synthetic track, completely refurbished the racing surfaces, added state-of-the-art broadcast lighting for night racing and built an in-field equine tunnel.

The 110-year-old Glenferrie Road bridge over the Caulfield railway lines needed strengthening to carry heavier vehicles and all classes of trams. SRG Global delivered the works for the Department of Transport Victoria, demolishing the existing footpath, constructing a new bridge deck and reinstating the road with upgraded tram tracks.

44 Martin Place

Blackbox documented the full transformation of this multi-storey commercial tower as it underwent major structural and architectural upgrades. Our time-lapse and video production teams captured each stage of the renovation, from the construction of a new ground-floor lobby to the full-height atrium penetration that opened the building from ground floor to level 12. We recorded the installation of prefabricated interconnecting stairs, the addition of two new rooftop levels, and the construction of a glass atrium roof that now fills the building with natural light. Throughout the project, our footage showcased complex logistics, structural strengthening, heritage sandstone restoration, new façades, and the careful coordination required to keep ground-floor retail tenancies operational. The result is a comprehensive visual record of a challenging, highly technical redevelopment delivered in a live environment.

Airport Link TBM Burial

Blackbox documented one of the most significant moments of the Brisbane Airport Link project, the entombment of the tunnel boring machines (TBMs) beneath the completed tunnels. After the final breakthrough the two massive reception pits, each 14.5 m wide and 16.5 m deep, were excavated by the Thiess John Holland JV using drill-and-blast methods and rock hammers. Our team captured the entire process as the TBMs were lowered into position using a purpose-built steel bridge structure and six 330-tonne strand jacks, before being fully encased in 2,500 m³ of concrete over a continuous 24-hour operation. The result is a detailed visual record of a complex and rarely seen engineering milestone.

Operation Osprey

When renowned designer and presenter Jamie Durie approached us during filming for his new TV series Growing Home, he had an urgent and unusual request. An osprey had built a nest on top of a tower crane on site and was preparing to lay eggs. With only a few days before the first egg was due, Jamie wanted a way to safely monitor and live-stream this rare moment so the community could follow the journey from egg to fledgling.
